Charlotte Speed Demons gets a New Sponser!!

Charlotte Speed Demons Announce Partnership with Tebby Chiropractic

An unfortunate byproduct of full contact sports are injuries. The sport of roller derby is no exception. Thanks to a new partnership with Tebby Chiropractic and Sports Medicine Clinic, the Charlotte Speed Demons are in good hands. Today, the team announced that the Charlotte-based clinic has signed on as the team’s official Chiropractor.

“We are proud to announce our partnership with Dr. Alan Tebby and his fantastic clinic,” said team president Craig Bailey. “With several of our Speed Demons already patients, it was a natural fit. Thanks to Dr. Tebby and his staff, our players are always ready for action. If they can keep roller derby players in top condition, you know they are good.”

Tebby Chiropractic and Sports Medicine Clinic is a professional chiropractic clinic which strives for excellence through superior patient treatment, education and satisfaction. Services provided include treatment for pinched nerves, slipped disc, lower back and hip pain, chiropractic care, neck pain, headaches, work and auto injuries, and more. With a ‘no wait policy’, friendly and courteous staff, and convenient location, they are Charlotte’s premier clinic. Visit www.tebbyclinic.com for more information.

“It’s an honor to be affiliated with such a professional group of women athletes,” said Dr. Alan Tebby, D.C. “They take this sport seriously and take some seriously hard hits. They are great role models of fitness, fairness and determination. We welcome this opportunity to help the Charlotte Speed Demons stay healthy and ‘on track’.”

Formed in 2010, the Speed Demons are a women’s flat track roller derby team unlike any in the region. While others incorporate some level of showmanship (stage names, stage makeup or nontraditional sports attire), the Speed Demons have chosen a different direction. To help reinforce the fact that roller derby is a sport, its athletes compete using their legal names and wear a traditional sports style uniform. The team is part of the movement to develop roller derby into a professional level sport with an eye on inclusion into the Olympic Games.

“After becoming a patient of Dr. Tebby, I began to feel my post-game recovery time reduced dramatically,” said Speed Demons jammer Carrie Hanson. “He knows sports and sports injuries, and his treatments have helped me stay healthy, injury-free, and on the track all season.”

The next game for the Speed Demons is on Saturday, August 20 when they take on the Catawba Valley Roller Girls of Morganton. It is the final home game of the 2011 season. Advance tickets can be purchased online for $10 here or in person at Inner Peaks Climbing Center located at 9535 Monroe Rd. or 9Round Gym located at 16721 Orchard Stone Run. Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the game for $14. Group discounts are available.
